Last year in November I published some Xmas cards.
Now I call them Special Cards. Because they can be a joy to you and me the whole year round, all of the time, not only at the festive season.
Please visit my blog https://yvoncaroline.wordpress.com if you’re interested in a short artikel on my thoughts.
A few days ago I published some new Xmascards on my site.
Series containing certain topics.
They are carefully drawn with soft pastels, glitter and sometimes a pencil.
Every card is a unique picture, each a combination of crudeness and refinement.
The images tend to grow on you.
The process of creating these gems is delicate and demands time and commitment.
And I’m happy I made them.
It’s been a long time since I update the site of my own artwork.
Not because I hadn’t been creative, but because I was busy with lots of things,
which needed my attention.
There has been a time I didn’t want to sign my drawings and paintings.
Only on the back I placed my name.
From now on I will sign my art, because I have learned and gained other insights.
I’m glad to present to you some new postcards, especially with the coming of Christmas and New Year. Please do enjoy them.
Ever since I was an infant, I loved the stories about Jesus, and later on as a teenager I discovered Gautama Buddha and the “Laughing Buddha”.
I love the kind face with pronounced ears and the voluminous figure of the “Laughing Buddha”.
The “Laughing Buddha” originates from a Chinese monk and Divinity.
His name was Budai and he was a monk in the tradition of Gautama Buddha and lived around the 10th century BC.
He is often benamed as Buddha, as in the Awakened One or the Enlightened One.
Budai is renowned for his loving nature and fullhearted laughter.
Have fun with my drawing of Budai!
In January I started with an experiment at the store MijnTafel in Groningen.
I sitt at the coffee-table and draw on request visitors. I have had many positiv reactions and comments.
My first customer was a woman visiting and staying at her sons place in Groningen. She was very enthusiastic while making her drawing. When it was finished she hesitated and thought it wasn’t quite right. Fortunately there where two women watching and they confirmed that the drawing was very much accurate.
Most people love pictures and drawings of others, but have a hard time accepting or recognizing one of there own. I do too some times … with this selfportrait. I wasn’t sure it was accurate, but it is. And with photographes I have no problems and can accept my looks and appearance.
Its been a while since I made portraits of people, and for the first time in public.
The contacts with the visitors is most of the time positiv, often refreshing and at times inspiring.
I like to practice when there is no request and use pictures from magazines or just my fantasy and sometimes a visitor who is unaware she or he is being portraied.
I like this kind of interaction with people and hope to continue this work, at MijnTafel or somewhere else.
lately I was thinking about all of my art … the postcards, the drawings and the paintings.
Even my photography is important to me, especially those of my cats and of nature.
I wanted to change the pages on this blog, just to be able to show you more of my creativity.
And now I have changed them … you’ll be able to look up my art by a general item and not by specific items.
